Das Toshiba AT200 ist mit seinen 535 Gramm deutlich leichter als etwa( Akku TravelMate TM5742-X742 ) das Motorola Xoom mit 730 Gramm, aber auch nur knapp 100 Gramm schwerer als das 7-Zoll große Blackberry Playbook von RIM. Dieser Gewichtsunterschied liegt an der Materialwahl des Gehäuses. Das Chassis des AT200 besteht aus matt-silber gebürsteten Metall. Bereits beim ersten Kontakt mit dem Gerät wird das relativ geringe Gewicht positiv auffällig. Bei den Abmessungen von 256 mm x 176 mm x 7,7 mm fällt auf, dass das AT200 etwas länger und breiter ist als beispielsweise das Motorola Xoom und das Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Inmitten der silbernen Gehäuseumrandung ist ein schwarzer ( Akku TravelMate TM5742-X742D )

Kunststoffrand eingearbeitet, der sich fast komplett um das ganze Gerät zieht. ( Akku Asus L7H ) Auf der rechten Seite gibt es drei Aussparungen, in denen die Hardwaretasten verstaut sind. Das 10,1 Zoll Display besitzt keinen überstehenden Rand, der dieses schützen könnte; somit liegt das Gerät mit dem Display komplett auf, sobald es verkehrt herum hingelegt wird. Das Chassis besteht komplett aus einem Werkstück und man sollte annehmen können, dass es dadurch äußerst verwindungssteif ist. Jedoch die sehr geringe Dicke von nur ( Akku ASUS L1 ) 7,7 Millimetern kann dies nicht vollends leisten. Dem vergleichsweisen besonders steifen Blackberry

Playbook kann das AT200 nicht das Wasser reichen. ( Akku ASUS L7 ) Zudem besitzt unser Testgerät eine minimal konvex gebogene Form, was dazu führt, dass das Tablet nicht vollends auf einem geraden Untergrund aufliegt (wir erinnern uns hier an die ersten Apple Alu-MacBooks...). Wie bei fast allen Geräten, finden wir bei dem AT200 auch keine Schrauben oder andere Öffnungsmechanismen um beispielsweise den Akku austauschen zu können. Handlichkeit Das ( Akku ASUS L8 )

Gerät liegt aufgrund seiner Kanten nicht so komfortabel in der Hand ( Akku ASUS M1 ) wie beispielsweise das Motorola Xoom. Zudem ist die Bodenwanne komplett gerade und nicht gewölbt. Eine solch ergonomische Anpassung wäre wünschenswert, würde sich aber negativ auf die Dicke des Tablets auswirken. Von der Form ist das Gerät mit einem übergroßen Apple Iphone 4 zu vergleichen, welches ebenfalls über eine vergleichbare Kantenführung verfügt. ( Akku ASUS M5N )

Was die Schnittstellen angeht, so kann das AT200 mit einem Micro-( Akku ASUS M8 ) HDMI-Anschluss, einem Mirco-USB-2.0-Anschluss, einer 3,5 Millimeter Buchse für Kopfhörer sowie ein Mikrofon und einem Micro-SD-Kartenslot punkten. Alle genannten Schnittstellen sind im Querformat an der linken Gehäuseseite zu finden. Diese Anschlüsse decken den Standard aktueller Tablets ab. Hinzu kommt an der Gehäuseunterseite noch ein Dock-Connector, wie wir es beispielsweise von allen Apple Produkten kennen. ( Akku ASUS S1 )

Beim AT200 wird dieser Dockanschluss zum Aufladen des Geräts ( Akku ASUS S5 ) benutzt. Laut der Herstellerbeschreibung wird dadurch noch zusätzlich das Andocken an eine „Toshiba AT200 Dock“ ermöglicht, allerdings liegen uns zum Testzeitpunkt keine näheren Informationen dazu vor. Der Test hat gezeigt, dass das Tablet auch am internen Micro-USB-Anschluss aufgeladen werden kann, jedoch scheinbar nicht an jeder Quelle. Bei dem Versuch einen Laptop als Stromquelle zur Verfügung zu stellen, zeigte sich nur ein kurzer Ladeimpuls. Beim Versuch an der Steckdose, wurde das Gerät letztendlich geladen. Offensichtlich ist der Ladestrom von 500mA am USB2.0-Ausgang zu gering für das Tablet. ( Akku ASUS S5N )

Die Verbindung des Tablets mit dem ( Akku ASUS S8 ) USB-Port eines Laptops funktionierte unter Windows 7 64bit und Windows XP leider nicht, es konnte zum Testzeitpunkt weder im Internet noch auf der Herstellerseite ein passender Treiber gefunden werden.

Im Handel gibt es derzeit zwei verschiedene Versionen,( Akku ASUS T9 ) die sich lediglich in der Größe des internen Speichers unterscheiden. In unserem Test haben wir die Variante mit 32GB Speicher (AT200-100). Die unverbindliche Preisempfehlung des Herstellers beläuft sich dabei auch saftige 649,00 Euro. The XE700T1A shouldn't just function as a mobile computer, but also as a competitor to Android devices. In order to do this, the program Touch Launcher is preinstalled, which allows the user to start small applications via a grid of shortcuts, like a calendar, a to-do list, or an RSS reader, which is based on the start screen on Android tablets.
